How important is outdoor learning?
We live in a build up area in a city and our nearest outdoor, roam free play is a drive away and with 4 kids under 8 it’s no easy task.
We go to our nearest Forest school and find it really fantastic. This is our outdoor time. The big two join in and the little two tag along. The small two are most difficult so overtime I’ve learned to take snacks and know where the nearest wee place is.
There is so much research about outdoor learning and its benefits I really struggle to understand how free thinking, free playing, exploring, choice and living can be done from a school environment?
I also discovered Charlotte Mason and nature jounalling which we can manage to do at a local park once a week.
